This is the start of a regular blog post series on the Highlands blog that features notable professional development articles, tools, and events from around the web.
Happy Apps
There are two apps we’ve noticed lately — Unstuck and Happify. While neither are exclusive to professional development, both are exclusive to changing the way you think through simple activities. Unstuck guides you through questions and organizational tasks to tackle projects or big change. Happify gives you exercises every day to help you to think more positively. And whether you mean to or not, moving forward and finding the positive wil help you at work.
Calendar Your Way to More Time
How much time do you spend emailing back and for with colleagues and clients scheduling appointments? If you’re like most professionals, TOO MUCH TIME. Doodle is a free tool that integrates with your existing calendar that makes it easy to schedule meetings without the back and forth on email.
Social Media in the Classroom
Earlier this year Twitter released an app called Periscope that allows you to create short, real-time video for posting in your Twitter stream. In this article from Education Dive, we see how some teachers are taking advantage of Periscope.
