Focus
:I administer the Highlands Ability Battery (HAB) to help students and adults articulate a clear vision for the best use of their natural aptitudes. The depth of the HAB results give my clients the practical ability to articulate their strengths and the understanding of the time needed to perform a particular job effectively. My clients and I often use these insights during highly personalized college admissions guidance sessions to identify college options including scholarships throughout the search, application, and decision process. We discuss a vision for potential summer experiences and future career paths to match with the HAB results through guided research about college academic paths using sensitive interactions and my college knowledge. Using the HAB results I combine college list creation and visits, including international campuses, with college essay content planning, interview preparation, and financial support options. The specific areas of strengths discussed during follow-up HAB consultations help me match a college admission strategic admission priority with offering how students can articulate why it matters if they are chosen in a compelling and authentic application. In addition, I use my training as a Language Arts Specialist to respect learning differences. The HAB testing experiences coincide perfectly with my own life’s purpose: the desire to inspire my clients to realize their full potential.
Experience
:For the past two decades I have worked with hundreds of high school students attending more than 50 different high school through the entire college search and application process. I use my degree in Education, my Language Arts Specialist training, and my more than 17 years of work as an independent college counselor to discuss the results of the Highlands Ability Battery to identify learning strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate the best student match with college curriculum. With a fully confidential and professional work ethic I help my students articulate their strengths and potential career path as we move through the college search including interview preparation and the development of a resume. I am a resourceful and enthusiastic higher education professional with a lifetime of commitment to education and helping my clients find their future path.
