Focus
:Many of us have asked ourselves “What do I want to do with my life?” For me, that question felt like wandering in a pitch-black forest searching for that elusive “tree” of clarity. I found myself still asking that same question 25+ years into my professional life. Feeling frustrated and discouraged, I continued my search and was thankful to find the Highlands Ability Battery. It was as if someone handed me a flashlight and a map… I had finally found my “tree”!
Students – Navigating career options can be a challenging process. Having endless options is fantastic, but sometimes too many choices can be overwhelming. The Highlands Ability Battery objectively measures your natural abilities, interests, and personal learning style. This information provides a solid foundation for identifying your most fulfilling career path.
Adults – Whether considering changing careers or are returning to the workforce, taking the Highlands Ability Battery provides invaluable insight for moving towards your goal. Especially helpful if you aren’t entirely sure what that goal looks like.
Experience
:I began my career in social work, which I enjoyed. At the time, I didn’t realize that my career wasn’t so much the issue, my work environment was. After 12 years, I moved into medical sales (for 12 more years!). Although I was successful, something felt…off. I was unhappy, stressed, and unfulfilled. After taking the Highlands Ability Battery I now know why. I discovered that we are all born with unique talents and gifts that are hard-wired into us, and do not change – EVER! Ignoring these gifts will leave us feeling…unhappy. I found the multiple competing demands frustrating. The chronically chaotic work environment and rapid-fire problem solving stressful, and the routine daily tasks made me restless. I was desperate to find a career that aligned with my interests, skills, personality, and values. Taking the Highlands Ability Battery was one of the most enlightening experiences of my adult life.
I started Blue Acorn Consulting (it all comes back to that tree!) after finally admitting to myself that I was not where I wanted to be professionally; I deserved more. After spending so much time aimlessly wandering my “forest” to finally find my “tree”, let me hand you a flashlight and help you find yours.
